SUSAN GILLHÖG / JONAS ROOTH
May 29 - July 4  2021

In 1957, the seven-year-old Susan Gillhög is sitting  on the rag rug  at home in the kitchen.  The carpet is a raft that slowly flows along the streams of the Amazon River.

Maybe it was the imagination that in adulthood took her to the Amazon of reality? She spent a long time in Colombia and Mexico. These intense years shaped her as a painter. From the experience of the strong light and the razor-sharp shadows, a magnificent saturated painting emerged. We are often in interiors or in clear natural spaces where the play of light, in her own words, like "good and evil fighting forces" creates drama and traces of life.
